IRISH CYCLIST MATT Brammeier is lucky to have avoided serious injury following a high-speed collision with a service car during stage six of the Tour of Utah.
In footage posted on YouTube today Brammeier, a member of the South African team MTN-Qhubeka, appears to lose control on a hairpin bend and crashes into the vehicle at speed.

The incident caused other cars and motorcycles to slow on the road, sparking another accident a few seconds later when a fellow competitor runs into the back of a motorbike.

According to Cycling News, the five-time Irish National Champion was immediately taken to hospital and diagnosed with injuries to his pelvis, ribs and lung.
Brammeier appears to be in good spirits following the incident, taking to Twitter to post a couple of updates:
